ECONOMIC GROWTH AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES

The Centre was created to organize training courses on economics and related areas like developmental economics, public policy, welfare economics, public finance, public sector enterprises, public health and related areas, finances of Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions, etc.

Evaluation Studies in respect of Micro & Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programmes, Skill Development for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, MNREAGA in selected districts across many states including Rajasthan, Concurrent Evaluation of Targeted Public Distribution System in Haryana, Chandigarh, Panjab, Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir, HP, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, Construction of a Devolution Index in respect of PEAIS, Assessment of the Manpower requirement of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Plan Schemes of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India, viz. (i) Export Promotion through Film Festivals and (ii) Participation in Film Market in India & Abroad, Survey of GPs in Gujarat, Gender budgeting , etc.

Evaluation of the Scheme of Counselling, Retraining and Redeployment (CRR) for separated employees of CPSEs by the Third Party Assessment Agency (TPAA); Independent assessment of current status of research and development in the higher education institutes in Delhi and NCR;

Objectives

The Centre was created with following objectives:

To organize training courses on economics and related areas like developmental economics, public policy, welfare economics, public finance, public sector enterprises, public health and related areas, finances of Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions, etc.
To organize training courses on management and related areas like behavioural science, human resource management, financial management, risk management, project management, strategic management, corporate governance, knowledge management, etc.
To organise seminars, panel discussions and workshops from time to time on the above areas;
To undertake research activities in the above areas;
To disseminate research findings and result of analysis of data on the above areas through appropriate medium including e-journals / journals/ newsletters and blogs;
To provide useful inputs to the state and central governments to facilitate policy making;
To provide consultancy on the above areas;
To conduct evaluation study for different Ministries/ Departments of the State/ central Governments and other agencies, national and international;
To carry out research on management practices in corporate, state-owned enterprises and government departments;
To examine the business practices and impact of government policies on the businesses in large, medium, small and micro enterprises.
To study the role of good governance in promoting responsible business and management practices;
To develop case studies on various management issues, business policy, corporate governance and social responsibility in emerging economies, etc., and
To bring different organizations on one platform for sharing their developmental efforts and viewpoints.

Major Activities

Major activities taken up by the Centre in the past includes:

Consultancy assignments in respect of Chronic Poverty Research Centre (CPRC), India for Univ. of Manchester & DFID, Financial Inclusion and Poverty Reduction for NCAER, Social Audit of Public Services in Delhi. District Level Monitoring of all the programmes of the Ministry of Rural Development in Bihar, MoRD-UNDP Project on analysis of the implementation of NREGA based on reports of the NLMs, etc.

Research studies on Maintenance and Sustainability of Urban Public Assets in Noida, Administrative Structure Rural and Urban Local Bodies in Uttaranchal, Impact of Reorganization of State Electricity Board, Functioning of SFC’s in 5 States of India, Viability of State Road Transport Undertakings (SRTUs) and other State Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), etc.

Impact assessment studies in respect of all the programmes of the Ministry of Rural Development in the states, Nirmal Gram Puruskar in 73 Panchayats GPs of Tamil Nadu, Impact of the Constitution (74th Amendment) Act on the Working of Urban Local Bodies, Impact Assessment and Terminal Evaluation of UNDP/GEF Hilly Hydro Project, etc.

Impact Assessment of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, Rapid Assessment of Information, Education and Communication Strategy of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Evaluation of Quality Council of India for Accreditation of ITis, Intended and Unintended Implications of CSR Regulation in India: Regulator and Regulated Perspectives, Joint Ventures in India : Select Case Studies of CPSEs, Impact Evaluation of My-Gov Web Portal for Citizen Partnership in Governance, Third Party Audit of Autonomous Society Hospitals of Government of NCT, etc.
